Design for flyer or poster on group agreed theme

No headings have been put on this one as the group will decide where and what font they would like to use but it is to go with the second theme "Behind Closed Doors"

No this is not the final layout it is just roughly done to spark some alternatives. The tape will be used in places but there will only be two colours rather than a mismatch! This is really to show some of the colours which are available!

The lights are in a false ceiling some of which can not have their light re-directed, but there are a few directional lights. The light setup is worse in the other shop as no directional lights were detected.


In the diagram below there are three electric sockets therefore light could be an issue and it will need to be discussed The large window could affect the displays because the exhibition falls into the Spring. The window may need some arty work or models to remove some of the brightness!

Idea for an alternative Theme

Too many to mention just come and see for free



The theme “The Artist’s studio”


Why the theme should be chosen:

• The theme will fit in with all chosen exhibits from various models to full blown animations.
• A prospective employer will be more likely to visit due to the variety of creations whereby
some themes would cause a mismatch with some chosen exhibit material.
• This theme would encourage a wider audience possibly a prospective employer.
• Each section of the chosen shop could represent parts of the studio for example

• The Canvas Suite
• Contemplation Suite
[children/adults could paint comments on a painting block).
• The Easel Suite
• The Colour Room
• The Models Boudoir.
• The Creative Suite.
• And so on................................

• Another possibility is the modernisation of studios from 17th – 18th
century in materials used and the general decor or not as the case may be!.
• The posters and flyers could be abstract or classical (anything would go)



Dress for the Exhibition


• Each suite could be clothed from the 17th century through to 21st century in artist’s attire.
[This besides being creative with bring a degree of humour into the exhibit for example:

• Exhibitors in the canvas suite would be dressed for the 17th century.
• Exhibitors in the Contemplation Suite would be dressed for the 18th century and so on.


Cost

• Items could be borrowed from the University (possible from Cambridge as they do Art).
• Each suite could be dressed with various materials and textures from Oxfam or any
other Charity Shop.
• Materials could even be rented from some artist shops and ideas can be used from
artist studios visited.
• Studios could possibly give us some materials to use ie.. old brushes and paints.
• Ideas are endless

Group Discussion for exhibition (Jan 28th- Feb 4th 2010)

Discussion with Kyle Taking Notes

Today we were given the brief of this module and put into groups of 4 or 5 depending on the number of students.

We are required to produce an exhibition of our own work and design the theme of the exhibition, which is to be held in an empty unit in the Chelmsford shopping centre.

Our group got to work straight away by putting all our ideas into a mind map. What we came up with is listed below.

4: Recycled Materials (to support the apocalyptic theme) (Teresa's Idea)

The following was an amalgamation of ideas through the group discussion:

The Apocalyptic theme was instantly popular within our group, so we decided to research this idea further, and I think we have come up with some very powerful and unique ideas.

Various ideas to support the chosen theme:

• Graffiti on walls
• A Burnt out car! (with Police tape around it to prevent the public from touching it)
• Hazard tape around each individual exhibition
• A bent street lamp (to light the room)
• A burning skyline (painted/printed onto material then stuck on the wall)
• Using recycled objects to save money (serving drinks from a Jerry Can, using coffee jars as cups) - cheap and effective
• Victim's chalk outline on the floor (adds to the scene and easy to clean off)
