3- 31 march exhibition news

Design Studio Exhibition 2010

Necessity for the module requisites;

• There will be 15 students who wish to exhibit their work.
• Each student will be required to exhibit 3 pieces of work including posters; computer generated models and computerised animation.
• This will equate to 15*3 = 45 show pieces.
• Each piece will be oriented laterally.
• Posters will be numbered so that the general public will have an idea which way to walk around the exhibition area.

Required Props

In addition to comply with the idea of the theme we will be using various props:

• Cones which have been modelled to portray pencils.
• Ink splats designed from vinyl.
• A sofa to enable people to sit down.
• 2 tables to place CVS and business cards and university information.
• Shredded paper spilling out of bins (give the impression of designs rejected).
• Exhibition Board * 4.
• Information Boards * 2.
• Banners.

Health and Safety relating to the Props

• The props are solidly built and fire-resistant (not the paper).
• No prop will obstruct the entrances or exits should a fire ensue.
• All floor standing props will be securely braced.
• Banners will be securely fastened to the walls and tested.

Electric Requirements

• A projector is required and ordered to display animation and models.
• A student will provide and attach the laptop to the projector.
• Extension leads * 2 will be required.

Health and Safety

• A student will be in charge of the laptop and projector at all times. (These items will never be left without a student being in attendance).
• The cables will be covered by cable protectors to eliminate the general public tripping over the wires. The cable protectors will not be placed amongst the general public walking area.
• The projector will be securely braced and placed on a solid table.
• All electrical items will be tested by a qualified electrician (IEE) to be accepted into the exhibition (PAT tested)and this will include extension leads
• Certificates will be available on request.

Additional Equipment Required

Floor standing screen to display students works.

Health and Safety

• The 80” screen will be encircled by tape and stands to ensure the general public do not enter into the area and get too close to the screen. The tape will cover an area which will account for the screen falling over however the screen will be securely braced.

Drinks

Soft drinks;

• Orange Squash
• Blackcurrant Juice.
• Bottled Water (sparkling and still)
• Shop bought cake or biscuits (if allowed!)

Health and Safety

Would like to have your opinion for allergies, sugar intolerances etc.
Bottled water is fine if that is the only product which is safe to give to the general public.

Exhibition News with poster/flyer

Rules for the Data Projector

The discussion for this item of equipment took over an hour as they were at first reluctant to allow our group to have this equipment.

The last data projector which was loaned out got stolen and they never received any monies to obtain another. The offending parties did not offer or insure the item of equipment therefore people like us could have lost out.

At the moment I do not have any knowledge on how this equipment works other than it is for wall displays therefore to elimate confusion on the day for setting up the piece of equipment I will need two more people (around the mid April) to test this equipmemt out and get the distances right for projection also if Tom is free I will also ask for his assistance.

If the distances are not correct then the display will be pants!

On each day of the exhibition a person MUST NOT leave the projectors side and therefore will be fully responsible for the timetabled (showing) of group work. (IT CANNOT BE LEFT).

It is possible that we need to aquire a piece of MFI or similar which is then painted white to fix to the wall because if we have the large shop it is possible that the panels may destroy the look. Whereby if it is the smaller shop the walls are darker so the board would be needed as a contingency measure.

In saying this it is possible that I might have a rollup white screen in the house which when things calm down I will search for this item.

Need to Discuss Logically

It is good that the team managers got together and discussed whatever they were discussing but I for one do not know what the next agenda is or indeed what other than grouping the work has been decided.

I feel it is imperative that everyone knows an agenda for each week within all teams.

A timetable is required for everyone from the closure and cleanup of the exhibition back to current day. I feel at the moment there is no structure and instead of a tight knitted professional exhibition we will end up displaying bits and pieces which to other professionals will glare out problems within our infra structure! Sorry but I felt that this needed to be said!

Groups

Guys you have all done well to define the groups but what are they exactly?

When displaying the animations it is unfeasible to do them one at at time. They need to be edited into a long video so each group for example 3D is amalgated into one film this will then ensure that we get a constant run of information. I do not feel it would be professional to do each section ie 3D
SAVS, MIKE, TOM as seperate entities these 3 (IF ITS ALL THE 3D GROUP NEED TO BE EDITED INTO ONE SITTING)

CV and Business Card

My last try at my CV

Business Card Changed
Front of business card

The hand signifies help is available and the rays emitting from the hand leads the reader to my role and my contact details. The back of the card remains the same.
The pyramid signifies the pyramid of learning and the ray at the top relates to achievement.

Back Of Business Card

The pig picture has been changed for the exhibition but to be honest I don't know which out of the two to pick. They have been changed so that all my images are shown in landscape and keep to similar colour schemes.

The film strip is to signify that the finished product resulted in a video!

Some other Business Card Designs
This card design is surrounded by the 'hands symbol for success".
Front Card

Back of Card

Front of the Card

The design for this card is for people who have an instant answer. The services offered are printed in the head on both sides of the card so the owner can instantly see if I have the skills required for the task they are pursuing.

The head relates to the term 'Mindset' which if I wanted to go it alone I would call my business.

Having the skill information on both sides allows for one side of the card wearing away where it comes in and out of a pocket.

Front of card

The tulip is known as a sign of success hence the tulips.

Back of the card

Three is also classed as being luck so with both these elements all projects should be successful!

I am aware that some graphic design/logo needs to be placed on the CV
