An extremely busy day shopping and preparing food, repairing exhibits and generally finishing off. All the guys were great and very supportive.
I found that the exhibition improved during the course of the week and it was watching the general public as they walked round the exhibition which helped in producing the final result.
If any of you guys read this blog I wish you all a very successful future and Kyle do not let yourself down. You are gifted; use it; please do not destroy it!
The following images show the final result:
Wednesday
Quite a good day not as busy as Monday and Tuesday. Once again some exhibits had fallen down but not as many as usual. We should have invested in some poster clips but I feel it is a little late for that, never mind I will remember them if there is a next time.
Today Richards' carer brought in the exhibition stands and we transferred some of the young budding artist works to the exhibition stand which appeared to be a hit for the general public. You were right. people do tend to go for the works rather than the completed pieces.
Tuesday
Once again some exhibits had fallen down but I had gone in special to ensure that when the others came in that they did not have the amount of work that Martin and I had to do when we arrived on Monday morning.
These images show the revisions that we made to ensure that the place looked more appealing and hopefully the images are more stable as the ones closest to the door were moved slightly so that the breeze did not dislodge the tape.
One of the younger members drawing a masterpiece. Parent consented for her child to be photographed.

Monday
On opening the doors I found have the exhibits on the floor because the wire had become detached from the posters. It was very hard to find the tools to repair them as nobody had put them in a tidy area!!!! Yes I heard about the gold curtains and no I did not have an input into that as I realised that they were not suitable for the exhibition.
The day was fabulous it was just Martin and myself and we invited many people in too see the works and they left really good comments.
No doubt we met some very interesting characters a 'faith healer' and 2 graphic artists and a sculptor who also ran exhibitions. He was rather full on and commented on the areas that the lecturer had mentioned to the students who attended on Sunday. He also commented on the amount of sellotape that was protruding above the exhibits and mentioned that it did not look professional and we should remove the excess tape.
I was glad it was only Martin and I on that day as I feel that some of the other students may have been possibly aggressive about some of his comments. I was pleased for his input because a lot of what he had said made sense. He did not say it was rubbish and had some very good comments about the work, but on mentioning some of his pointers some people thought he meant it was bad. This was not what he meant, he was just passionate about the work and wanted us to do well.
Saturday
Not a very good turnout of students but those of us who attended set to with the finishing touches. The general public were interested but did not always enter the shop which was a shame.
The children were very excited about drawing in our sketch area and this proved to be quite a hit.
The afternoon brought in more spectators which was a blessing.
I had taken my portable DVD player home as I hired one from the media department, but when it came to play the DVD it would not load so I will bring down either my portable or my laptop on Monday.
I had assumed that the DVD would play on the media departments player as it had been tested on my portable and had played fine so this was a lesson well learnt.
I do not seem to be able to drum up enthusiasm from the others to give me their animations. This came as a surprise as they produced some great productions during the course.
Not to worry I have two of mine and one of Dans so I am not to despondent!
Friday
Disappointing turnout I did expect more of us to attend so we displayed a united front but that aside those who did turn up came up with some very good ideas and we all muscled in.
Kyle was very pro-active and came up with some very good ideas. He worked solidly throughout the day and was very committed to the job in hand.
Below are some images of the shop being set up ready for Saturday.
Monday went well were we all got on with the job in hand. The 2nd hand shop kindly donated a sofa which is a good size and not out of keeping for the theme of the exhibition,
We did plan to put it in Room 301 but it was far to heavy to take it up the stairs and although we tried to squash it into the lift - it was just too big!
I have brought the posters home and am a little concerned that some are too dark but we will see as the shop is lighter than the shop we thought we would have.
The animations are very difficult to get hold of, but so far Dan and myself are putting together a couple of pieces.
Monday covered:
Collection of posters (some of which are still missing but hopefully will show prepared and ready to hang on the day.
T-Shirts - Not a great turn -out but some are being prepared!
Room Layout - Some concerns on the initial layout as I do not feel we are using the space in the best way but we now have a contingency.
Meet on Friday - Plan to be there for 9-00 some will be late but at least we have been notified of this so this is fine.
Posters Printed and Laminated - Took a few hours to complete but some exhibits look very professional and it was a worthwhile exercise.
