Necessity for the module requisites;
• There will be 15 students who wish to exhibit their work.
• Each student will be required to exhibit 3 pieces of work including posters; computer generated models and computerised animation.
• This will equate to 15*3 = 45 show pieces.
• Each piece will be oriented laterally.
• Posters will be numbered so that the general public will have an idea which way to walk around the exhibition area.
Required Props
In addition to comply with the idea of the theme we will be using various props:
• Cones which have been modelled to portray pencils.
• Ink splats designed from vinyl.
• A sofa to enable people to sit down.
• 2 tables to place CVS and business cards and university information.
• Shredded paper spilling out of bins (give the impression of designs rejected).
• Exhibition Board * 4.
• Information Boards * 2.
• Banners.
Health and Safety relating to the Props
• The props are solidly built and fire-resistant (not the paper).
• No prop will obstruct the entrances or exits should a fire ensue.
• All floor standing props will be securely braced.
• Banners will be securely fastened to the walls and tested.
Electric Requirements
• A projector is required and ordered to display animation and models.
• A student will provide and attach the laptop to the projector.
• Extension leads * 2 will be required.
Health and Safety
• A student will be in charge of the laptop and projector at all times. (These items will never be left without a student being in attendance).
• The cables will be covered by cable protectors to eliminate the general public tripping over the wires. The cable protectors will not be placed amongst the general public walking area.
• The projector will be securely braced and placed on a solid table.
• All electrical items will be tested by a qualified electrician (IEE) to be accepted into the exhibition (PAT tested)and this will include extension leads
• Certificates will be available on request.
Additional Equipment Required
Floor standing screen to display students works.
Health and Safety
• The 80” screen will be encircled by tape and stands to ensure the general public do not enter into the area and get too close to the screen. The tape will cover an area which will account for the screen falling over however the screen will be securely braced.
Drinks
Soft drinks;
• Orange Squash
• Blackcurrant Juice.
• Bottled Water (sparkling and still)
• Shop bought cake or biscuits (if allowed!)
Health and Safety
Would like to have your opinion for allergies, sugar intolerances etc.
Bottled water is fine if that is the only product which is safe to give to the general public.

Hi Theresa,
ReplyDeleteI for one understand what you are saying and am concerned with the same issues. The reason why i have not made a difinative timetable yet is I do not have all the information from High Chelmer needed i.e. health and saftey rules, space layouts etc) this has only worsened now as Carley from High Chelmer has advised that we are no longer guranteed the large space and that there is 12 other possible spaces all ranging from isle spaces with no power to ones 3 times the size of 303C. Please be aware that this Thursday I will be speaking with Carley in the morning to go through all the issues so that we may produce a timetable and start working towards it. Please note that this Thursday I will try to attempt to book a room and equipment with media production so that we may take the bio pictures for the website. I also need you to think about how you might be able to display your own work with out the use if electronic equipment just in case.
see you soon
Sav
Hi Theresa,
ReplyDeletecould you please email me on savva.pelou@student.anglia.ac.uk so that i can send you the risk assesment literature. If you prefer for me to carry out the risk assesment i would be more than happy to just email me your response.
Thank you
Sav
Teresa,
ReplyDeleteWas this your task for this week? Another concerning point: Your team keeps listing the same "acquire to date" since one or two weeks ago. Please start defining, if possible, with Tesco (for example) if you're going to get the vouchers or not. Just contact them through email (if you have the contact) and mention the fact that the date is approaching soon and you would like to know if you're going to get those vouchers.
Please specify that free refreshments will be given the opening night only. Also, don't you want to mention which faculty is the show from?
Hi Theresa,
ReplyDeleteAlright, alright! So now I see that everything is more clear with the topic related to the stuff you have "acquired" until today. One thing (and pleeeeaaaase change it), the letter to perspective viewers mentions "free admission and REFRESHMENTS". Be sure to write clearly:
1. Opening night event (saturday) and then mention free refreshments will be given. If not, people might think we will be serving refreshments for the whole week! Just a matter of re-arranging words really.
Also, I think we should get over with the issue of not having still a definite place and just concentrate in letting people know it's going to be in High Chelmer and start producing signs to direct people to the exhibition inside the shopping mall once they arrive. Mention this to Savva and see what he thinks. In "time", just add the times the Shopping mall is opened and don't complicate your life unless it's needed.
